That Lovely Afternoon

A week ago I was having this tea and coffee walnut cake with Julia in the Blackbird Tea Rooms in Brighton.
It was a lovely place to spend the afternoon.
The vintage interior and its atmosphere makes it the top 1 tea room on my list.
And the cake, hmmmmm, it was delicious!! My mouth is watering when I think about it now.
We were enjoying the tea, the cake, and a scone with jam and clotted cream.
Our table was next to the window, where we can see the Marwood opposite.
Marwood is a cafe with great music, food and atmosphere.
We watched the people who sat outside the cafe.
Watching people is one of the things we like to do.

Every time Julia came to visit me in Brighton, we had so many things to talk and laugh about.
We shared the same memories when we were doing our Master degree in Sussex.
Those days when we spent lots of time on reading and studying literature.
Library was the place we visited most.
We studied; we observed people.

I remember the guy who looked like the Hellboy from the film.
I remember the guy who gave Julia a carrot.

And we cannot forget Siegfried Kracauer.
The amount of time we had spent and the amount of reading we had done because of him.
We read again and again and again and we couldn't understand.
I wad reading about time and space and I got lost in time and space.
I remember Julia was reading his theory on film.
And that picture of your red bull, my coffee and our muffins on our table.

It was an unforgettable nightmare.

Our presentation was a fail.

But now we can joke and laugh about it.

This picture reminds me of that afternoon, and the conversation we had.

We will have to go back, have another cream tea, talk about our life, and laugh.

In Brighton.
